FOCUS - The biggest killer of startups

One of the speakers at CeBIT Australia last week was Mick Liubinskas from Pollenizer. He had some killer points for those of us starting out:

- Most startups get killed by their lack of focus.

- Every single day you should ask yourself - why am I here?

- Know your core stuff and don’t worry about all the other crud.

- Sacrifice the non-essential.

-Make sure you know what your core utility is and then work on that more than ANYTHING else.

It’s all so obvious yet so many of us screw it up.

CeBIT Australia

CeBIT Australia was held in Sydney this week. I spent the three days attending the conferences and listening to some very bright minds disgorging their knowledge and wisdom. Three things sprung to mind:

- The intellectual standard in the tech industry is waaaaay above most old line industries.

- The amount of money washing around tech looking for the next good idea is a tsunami next to the wading pool ripples of non-tech.

- It’s bloody exciting.
