FOCUS - The biggest killer of startups
One of the speakers at CeBIT Australia last week was Mick Liubinskas from Pollenizer. He had some killer points for those of us starting out:
- Most startups get killed by their lack of focus.
- Every single day you should ask yourself - why am I here?
- Know your core stuff and don’t worry about all the other crud.
- Sacrifice the non-essential.
-Make sure you know what your core...

Boeuf Bourguignon →
It’s winter here in the southern hemisphere and it’s definitely time for some hearty food. If you have a bottle of red wine you can’t wait to open, and know how to use a casserole dish, try this Beef Bourguignon - a classic french dish. Remember the white crusty bread and some good butter!

my business →
A quick link to my business - Australian Electronics Accessories.
The site is awful but we have a radical rebuild coming in the next little while. There will be a lot of really cool stuff - podcasts, info lists, a tech blog - to make it easier for people to get their bits and pieces with the least trouble possible.
Wish us luck!

Jason Calacanis →
At CeBIT Australia this week I met Jason Calacanis. If you aren’t in the tech world, he’s a famous (or infamous) figure. Tech startup entrepreneur, commentator, all-round networker. Some people find him a right pain in the ass.
Whatever you think of him he says some super smart, solid stuff. He ain’t no fool. Spend an hour on his blog and you won’t regret it.

The personal website I shamelessly copied →
Being completely new to the mechanics of creating, registering, hosting and maintaining a web site I opted to shamelessly copy someone who I thought would know how to do it right - Kevin Rose of Digg fame.
Respect to the man - with all his tech skills, he chose the simplest and easiest way imaginable.
I could think of worse ways to start than learning from someone at the top of the game.
